Let’s learn more about Tik!
Rooted in Family…
Tik is the son of Rick and Jennifer Maynard. Rick was an international Three-Day Event rider in the 70’s. After that he became a Grand Prix Show jumper, and the Maynard family would travel to Spruce Meadows every summer. Rick still rides and coaches in Southland’s, Vancouver, Canada. Jen was a Grand Prix Dressage rider and is a four star Para Dressage judge. Tik’s parents also authored a book on horse photography, Horses In Focus, published by Half Halt Press. Tik’s family in Vancouver run Southland’s Heritage Farm. Tik’s younger brother, and his family, run Gibson’s Heritage Farm, on the Sunshine Coast, in B.C.
Tik has evented at the Advanced level and been Long-Listed and Short-Listed for Canadian National Three-Day Event Team.
Tik won the Freestyle twice at the Thoroughbred Makeover (2015, 2018) and also judged it once (2017).
Tik teaches clinics in the United States, Canada, England, and Scotland. He is also an online instructor for The Horseman’s University and for the Noelle Floyd Equestrian Masterclass. He is a regular guest on podcasts, and a contributor to Practical Horseman, Noelle Floyd, Chronicle of the Horse, Horsemen's Journal and others. Tik is a columnist (quarterly) for Off-Track Thoroughbred Magazine (2015-present).
Tik is the author of In The Middle Are The Horsemen, published by Trafalgar Square Books, 2018 (also published in German, 2020).
